The 30″ spot for “Ringside” on Sky Sports, shot over two days in and around Greater London, is a great example of attaining high production value without necessarily having the budget to match.

Shooting in a diverse range of locations, the sequence highlights the conventional and non-conventional training methods undertaken to get to the fighter to the top of their game.

Thanks especially to “Moon” DP Gary Shaw, editor David Mowbray, Luke Jackson at Locate and our four keen pugilists (courtesy of Fitzroy Lodge and Repton Boxing Club) who schlepped around London in all manner of weather knocking lumps out of each other.

This global launch of the new model allowed Adam to put a new creative spin on the Ford idents for Sky Sports’ coverage of the Premier League. Utilising the excellent R1 rig and the finest gathering of grips in the Western World, the concept allowed the vehicle to be placed into different locations, at different times of the day, with a variation on the cast whilst the car remained locked into its screen position.

This initial batch has been very well received by Ford and their agency Ogilvy. We look forward to taking the creative forward with new models and a variety of locations over the summer months.

R1 in Windsor Park

Mined from the Rugby League heartland in the north of England, then forged in steel in Sheffield by new visual effects house Xenon Studios.

Devised and directed by Adam for Sky Creative and realised by new, Sheffield-based visual effects house Xenon Studios, this a great example of meticulous CG design and precise execution. Using carefully choreographed and edited motion capture, along with top texturing and lighting, the end result is a powerful example of the skill and ferocity of Rugby League.

Mixing a 1-Day live action shoot with a series of graphics environments, the film charts the Tinie’s literal journey alongside that of his career.

A thoughtful family of sponsorship idents for Yorkshire based baristas Taylor’s of Harrogate and Sky Arts.

gotgotneed created a series  of ten idents that all marry a blend of coffee from Taylor’s collection with a genre of the arts shown on the channel.

A musical score was then beautifully adapted by Neil Myers to emphasise the tone of each film, lit lovingly by Tim Green.

Put simply, a smash and grab commercial for Fitness First, conceived, written and directed inside three weeks. As is the custom around New Year, new resolutions lead to changes of habit and, to encourage viewers to join a Fitness First gym gotgotneed broke with theirs to utilise dialogue and a small degree of comedy.

Enormous thanks to Karl Watkins for his work as DP, using a Canon 5D and a Steadicam rig to great effect; Matt Butler for his hilarious performance as ‘Jim’ and the entire crew for working way past their bedtimes in the driving snow!

Subtly realised concept recently crafted for a new women’s underwear label Boux Avenue and old lingering lingerie dragon: Theo Paphitis. The treatment is a good example of the range of work gotgotneed is now engaged in and also our blossoming involvement as art directors in fashion led projects.

At the opposite end of the creative spectrum lives a small project we instigated and directed for Cadbury’s “Spots v Stripes” chocolate bars.

As part of the Jingle Bell Ball, Cadbury’s sponsored and organised a mass dance-off that involved over 4,000 participants. Another fun and quick turnaround film achieved on a limited budget, big thanks to Ginny and her team at Red Represents for putting the shoot together.

A vibrant collection of idents for Edinburgh based creative outfit; the Leith agency.

We were charged with bringing to life a highly visual treatment that illustrated the many flavours of soft drink which Barr produce… It’s not just Irn-Bru you know!

Huge thanks go out to The Motion Box boys, Dave and Mark. Love to Paddy & Duck at One Louder for the most memorable piece of music we’ve ever created – release it now boys. Back-slap to Mike Lloyd for his usual unusually high standards in crafting the sound design.

A fun batch of idents to announce Intel’s new range of processors – the i3, i5 & i7 chips – on The Discovery Channel. Asked by the guys at Fuse (OMD) to adapt Intel’s current campaign to a TV sponsorship format, we married the existing concept to the channel’s ethos to create the set of six idents.

A big thanks to Ginny Mettrick at Red Represents for her skill, craft and hard graft; to Mark and Dave at Motionbox for all the effects; Neil Myers for the musical score and to the irreplaceable David Venni for his photography.

A series of four animated films produced for cinema chain Cineworld, through East London agency BD Network. Each ident was created in HD & Dolby 5.1 for the theatre, lending new experience and a slightly new direction for ggn.

The set were produced by Pete Muggleston and the post-production provided by Rushes & Justin Bates.

The character animation was created by the very talented team at Blue Zoo.

Mike Lloyd was responsible for the sound design with a little help from Lawrence Needham and his fiddle.

Adam and Nick’s third venture into the ferocious world of the British & Irish Lions took them to Cape Town and the stormy coast of South Africa. Another visual feast this time pitting mortal hosts against a surging wave of feline energy, as the Lions took the form of a tsunami seeping towards African soil and the awaiting Springboks. Back for 2010 Adam’s popular series of idents for Ford’s sponsorship of the Premier League on Sky Sports continues to lend the highest production value to the world of the football fanatic. The latest collection make the most of the short duration by taking the camera on an impossible journey, featuring a wide array of locations, characters and scenarios gathered across the length of the UK. Some fantastic aerial shots and a healthy dose of talent combined with the beautifully crafted post work from Absolute, see the series grow from strength to strength.

A fantastic experience of helicopter filming in the Southern Alps of New Zealand and a troupe of intrepid Maori warriors performing the haka set the scene for this epic showdown between the snowstorm of British & Irish Lions rugby stars and the All Blacks. A great blend of CGI and live action saw this become an award winning piece.

gotgotneed’s first venture into the world of the film title landed us the opportunity to work alongside produced Simon Kearney and Director Giles Borg of Carson Films. ggn created this post-punk ensemble for the 2010 Indie flick 1,2,3,4 – the tale of a young British band’s struggle to make it big on the scene. Since it’s debut at the london Film festival the feature has gained critical acclaim in both the UK and Internationally.

Two title sequences for Al Jazeera that arrived via the internet, via Denver, via Qatar… Thanks Vimeo.  US production hot house Mrs.K, asked us to lend some ggn magic to two programmes as part of the overall re-brand of Al Jazeera Sports.

Fantastic experience working with such a forward thinking outfit, their professionalism allowed us to create two tight jobs in a short space of time.

Big thanks to Rushes for their skill in the post-production of the project.

Classic idea, grand scale. Adam married old and new to lend a titanic aspect to English Rugby’s Guinness Premiership titles, allegedly ‘the thinking man’s game’.

A wonderful combination of shot and post-production elements converge to create this award winning film that was nominated for a BAFTA in 2008. A star-studded array of the league’s best players turned out in force in an excuse to dodge training and smash hell out of each other.
